Bedtime Kisses!
Mocha, our newest edition and latest rescue! She's a husky/sheppard mix found roaming the streets in Camden, NJ. What a difference friends and roaming acres on a farm can make. She's taking a break from the heat over the summer with a special pup cup. She even got to go for a car ride to pick this one up herself!
Pearl, our only duck, thought she was a chicken...then along came these two. Now Pearl has two friends and even helped show them the ropes on the farm. They love the rain and the pools that are placed all around the sanctuary.
Ok, it took us a while, but we can finally tell these brothers apart! Buddy and Barron joined us in August. 100 pounds later, and these guys have taken on predator patrol. Don't take it personal if they do not give you the warmest welcome. They are on guard and ALWAYS looking out for their fellow residents. They keep us safe on the outside and if you scroll down, you'll see who's taking care of the inside.
Bowser came to us on January 15, 2023 as a surrender. In just a short time he's come so far. This prestigious guy did not look like this 6 weeks ago. He had trust issues, and signs of physical abuse and emotional scars. He's standing tall today and loving his job watching over the farm and keeping us all safe and sound! His special bond with founder Nicole is obvious whenever you see them together.
It was Super Bowl Sunday and we could not think of anything better to do than buy, lumber and hardware to get these guys proper hutches! This is one of 6 and yes they are the cutest. Not the perfect bill of health from their first vet visit, but they are on the mend. See our next post for the efforts of an organized rescue from this same location...
This was a tough one. We worked closely with the district attorney and local law enforcement to rescue chickens, roosters, and rabbits in a deplorable, hoarding situation. Horrible conditions, no food, no water and many feeding off the carcass of others! Over 200 animals. We wish we could take them all. This rescue added 19 more permenant residents to the homestead. 6 Giant Lop Rabbits, and 13 bantam chickens.
